News.hust.edu.cn (Correspondent: Wu Yunxia/Reporter: Zhang Wenyi)--Since the women's basketball event of the 7th CISM Military World Games (CWG) kicked off on October 19, the breathtaking matches wowed spectators.

In the three matches on October 19, Brazil overwhelmed Germany 87:33, the U.S. edged out France 67:65, and clear favorite China made a good start by thrashing Canada 111:29.

In the second round of the group stage on October 20, France beat Canada 64:48, Brazil outplayed the U.S. 68:56 and China walloped Germany 128:43.

On October 21, Germany scrambled a narrow win over Canada 53:50 to clinch its first victory. Brazil overcame France 68:57. In the clash between China and the U.S., China kept good form and extended lead to see off the U.S. 119:71.

After three rounds, both China and Brazil claimed three wins, the U.S., France and Germany registered one win and two losses alike, and Canada suffered three defeats. In spite of having to take on Canada and the U.S. in their last two matches, they have clinched one of the top two places in the group early.

On October 23, Wuhan's basketball fans burst into cheer at Huazhong University of Science and Technology Optics (HUST) Valley Gymnasium. Brazil demolished Canada 93:42 to register their fourth straight win; the U.S. overpowered Germany 81:34; China trounced France 103:61, secured one of the top two places in the group after a four-win streak and qualified for the final.

On October 24, the U.S. annihilated Canada 87:39, France disposed of Germany 74:51 and China outdid France 64:47. Thus China made it to the final with five straight wins.

The women's matches have attracted flocks of fans and drew wide media attention these days. CCTV, the Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, China Sports Publication Corporation, Hubei Daily, Changjiang Daily, Voice of Hubei and HLJTV scrambled to cover the event.
